A good wife or husband does not become one naturally; disciplined discipleship and the grace of God remain the medicine.
A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day; restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.
After The Honeymoon
During courtship, no beauty seems as though she will turn out to be a quarrelsome wife. The few telltale signs are easily covered up by the love the suitor feels for her. Woe unto him.
But what hope is there for the quarrelsome beauty? Methinks effective discipleship holds the key to the riddle. God's Word has the power to transform any heart.
No Natural Prince Charming
The truth is that all of us have the potential of being a lousy husband or wife. A good wife or husband does not become one naturally. We must look at ourselves suspiciously and put in the effort needed to become the sleeping queen or prince charming.
Disciplined reading and meditation on God's Word, reading good books on marriage, and attending couples fellowships are never wasted time. Ignore these and without your knowledge you become a nagging wife or a selfish husband whose spouse lives in regret. Bidii yako na neema ya Mungu tu ndio dawa.
