Part of the heritage of those who fear God is clarity about life's purpose: we are here to know Him, reflect Him, enjoy Him, and glorify Him.
You have given me the heritage of those that fear your name.
The Great Divide
One of the questions that baffles the human mind is why we are here. Those who do not know God try to construct answers to these complex questions from scratch. For those who fear God however, part of their heritage is clarity about life's purpose.
We are here to know God, to reflect Him, to enjoy and glorify Him. So even when, as happens many times, we still ask why the suffering and why so much evil, we enjoy a settled purpose. We know God, we know that we belong to Him, and most importantly, we can trust Him in what we do not understand.
Right there is the great divide. We enjoy peace while others are drinking themselves silly in order to calm the gnawing pain that eats their souls for lack of answers.
