Believers must study the full counsel of Scripture rather than build doctrine from isolated Old Testament texts pulled from their original context.
There is no clear biblical justification for what many Christians describe as generational curses.

Testing A Common Teaching
Rev. Canon Dr. John Senyonyi says there is no biblical justification for what many Christians describe as generational curses. The former Uganda Christian University Vice Chancellor made the remarks in a message shared on The Ugandan Gospel social media pages, where he questioned the common interpretation of Scriptures often used to support the teaching.
Dr. Senyonyi says that after extensively searching the Bible, he has not found clear scriptural evidence that believers inherit spiritual curses from previous generations.
Read Scripture In Context
He cautioned against taking Old Testament passages out of context, especially Scriptures where God was addressing the children of Israel concerning the sins of their forefathers.
The respected theologian further urged Christians to study the full counsel of Scripture in order to understand the position of believers under the New Testament through Christ Jesus.
