I refuse to interpret reality only through politics and prices. I have biblical, not electoral, hope.
Sing joyfully to the Lord, you righteous; it is fitting for the righteous to praise Him.
A Hard Question
Not one very fond of rhetorical, hollow Christianese, I refuse to move on before asking a tough question: how can a Kenyan alive today sincerely sing joyfully?
Let's face a few facts. Corruption is massive. Our young people, who are the nation's future, are being systematically ruined. None of the politicians in office or in waiting seem to possess the kind of transformative vision that nations in crisis desperately need.
Biblical Praise Has Three Dimensions
- Defiance: like Habakkuk, I sing even if the fig tree does not bud. My wallet may be empty, but heaven is not.
- Lament: praise includes crying, How long, O Lord? Lord, our country is sick, please help us.
- Interpretation through who God is: I refuse to interpret reality only through politics and prices. I have biblical, not electoral, hope.
A Joyful Song In A Broken Land
And so, I will face today with confidence, hope, and a joyful song. Praise is not denial. It is the stubborn insistence that reality is finally governed by God and not by the brokenness around me.
